Sue Tirrell

Sue resides in the Paradise Valley of Montana. She received her BA in Ceramics from Alfred University, New York. She was also a resident at the Archie Bray Foundation. She uses a technique called "slip carving" where images are painted on her porcelain vessels, and then carved with hand tools. She states, "My pots are functional sketches of the animals who populate my rural neighborhood. My sculptural work blends themes from western art and culture with contemporary discourse and folk inspired handling."
